About Dan & Em

About Em:

I’m a stay at home mom of 2 living abroad in a country where I don’t speak the language and trying (moderately successfully) to not lose my mind entirely.

Back before kids, I used to teach ballroom dancing, and before that, I was a software engineer.  Since the boys have come along, I’ve also taught horseback riding, which is something I’ve done on and off since I was about 14 (teaching, that is — I’ve been riding since I was 8).

My goal, with my blog, is to share an honest picture of what life is like when living abroad with two little ones.  So far, I’ve written a post every single day we’ve been here (over a year), and I intend to continue to post every day while we’re on this international adventure — otherwise it’s just too easy to decide I’m tired (which is every day) or that I don’t have anything interesting to say (which happens a lot, too).  I’m trying really hard not to revert to writing just a diary or travelogue:  I aim to share the good, the bad, the wonderful and the mundane, with a lot of lessons learned and personal epiphanies thrown in.  It’s my theory that we’re all going through much the same thing, and that the challenges we’ve undertaken with this adventure are merely highlighting the experiences, discoveries and struggles that everyone goes through.
